Anxiety Therapy in West End Toronto & Online
Anxiety doesn't always look like worry you can name. Sometimes it's a racing mind at 3am, a tight chest before a meeting that shouldn't feel this hard, or a low hum of dread that never fully switches off. If you've tried to think your way out of it and keep landing back in the same loop, that's not a failure of willpower. It's a sign your nervous system needs support too, not just your thoughts. Sarah offers somatic and talk therapy for anxiety, in person in Toronto's west end and virtually across Canada.
What Anxiety Can Feel Like
Anxiety shows up differently for everyone, and it's often felt in the body well before it's fully understood in the mind.
A racing or looping mind that won't settle, especially at night
A tight chest, shallow breathing, or a stomach that's constantly unsettled
Feeling on edge, jumpy, or braced for something to go wrong
Trouble concentrating, or feeling scattered even during simple tasks
Muscle tension, clenched jaw, or restlessness that doesn't have an obvious cause
Avoiding situations, conversations, or decisions out of a need to feel safe
Exhaustion that comes from being in a heightened state for too long
Anxiety therapy sessions are offered in Toronto’s west end, Roncesvalles Village, Junction neighbourhoods and online.

A Somatic, Body-First Approach to Anxiety
Anxiety lives in the nervous system, not just in your thoughts, which is why talk therapy alone sometimes isn't enough to shift it. Sarah’s approach draws on Somatic Experiencing to work directly with what your body is doing when anxiety takes over, helping you build real capacity to settle, not just strategies to think your way past it. Alongside that, we use talk therapy to understand what's feeding the anxiety and where it's rooted, so the work addresses both what you're carrying and how your body is holding it.
When Anxiety Is Tied to a Health Diagnosis or Cancer
For some clients, anxiety intensifies around a health scare, a diagnosis, or the uncertainty that comes with cancer treatment and survivorship. Scan anxiety, fear of recurrence, and the constant low-grade vigilance that can follow a diagnosis are real and specific, and they deserve more than generic anxiety support. As a Professional Cancer Coach, Sarah brings that additional layer of understanding to this work, so if your anxiety is tangled up with a health diagnosis, you won't need to explain that context from scratch.

This work is for anyone whose anxiety is affecting daily life, whether that shows up as racing thoughts, physical tension, avoidance, or a general sense of being on edge that won't switch off. It's for people who've tried to manage anxiety through willpower or logic alone and found it isn't enough. It's also for clients whose anxiety is specifically tied to a health diagnosis or cancer treatment, where the fear and vigilance are rooted in something real and ongoing, not just generalized worry. If anxiety is shaping how you move through your days, that's reason enough to bring it into the room.

Your first session is about getting a clear, honest picture of what your anxiety actually looks like day to day, not a diagnostic checklist. We'll talk through when it shows up, how it feels in your body, and what you've already tried. From there, we start building a shared understanding of what your nervous system needs to feel steadier, and what pace of work makes sense for you. There's no pressure to have it all figured out by the end of the hour.

Therapy isn't about eliminating anxiety completely or promising a quick fix. Some anxiety is a normal, even useful, signal, and the goal isn't to silence your nervous system but to help it respond more accurately and settle more easily when the threat has passed. This also isn't medication management. Sarah doesn't prescribe, and if medication is part of what could help you, Sarah will encourage that conversation with your doctor or a psychiatrist alongside the work you do together.
