Navigating the In-Between:
Therapy for Life Transitions in Toronto
Support for the moments when life shifts and you’re still finding your footing.
Sometimes, intellectually understanding a major life change—like a career shift, a relationship ending, or a new phase of identity—isn’t enough to make you feel settled. You may know why things are changing, but your body might still feel stuck in a cycle of "waiting for the other shoe to drop," restlessness, or a heavy sense of overwhelm.
Body-based therapy (Somatic Therapy) recognizes that major life transitions are processed not just in your mind, but in your nervous system. When your external world is in flux, your body often searches for safety by "bracing" against the unknown. Somatic work helps you bridge that gap, supporting you in releasing stored tension and finding a sense of internal home even when your external circumstances are shifting.
At Interocare, this work is grounded in Somatic Experiencing® and informed by mindfulness, movement, and relational practices. We pace our sessions carefully to help you move through life's "in-between" moments feeling more connected, regulated, and supported in your new chapter.

Body-based therapy supports chronic stress, anxiety, burnout, trauma, and physical tension. It is specifically helpful for those experiencing a sense of 'bracing,' emotional overwhelm, or disconnection from their body and sense of self.
-
Sessions are gentle and collaborative, focusing on sensations and nervous system responses in the present moment. We work slowly to build awareness, support regulation, and create a greater sense of stability and ease without the need to relive difficult experiences.
-
Somatic Experiencing takes a slower, individualized approach by working directly with the nervous system in real time. Rather than following a structured protocol, sessions are guided by what is happening in your body moment to moment to build safety gradually.

There are many effective approaches to trauma and stress, including methods like EMDR and other structured therapies. Each offers a different way of supporting healing.

This can be especially helpful for individuals who feel overwhelmed by faster-paced approaches, or who benefit from working gently and gradually to build a sense of safety and regulation.
